Itinerary of Events Day One 6:45 am Load the bus 7:00 am Hit the road for PEI Lunch in Har Drive over Confederation Bridge (what are we going to do with one student who has a fear of bridges?) |
Each day of the trip a different QHS student will be asked to be the guest reporter for the day. They will give a summary of the events and attractions that we visited and also give some of the highlights of our day. Each day photos will be added to the website along with the guest reporter's story. We will also profile some of our new friends that we meet along the journey on this beautiful island. Enjoy. Day 1: We left QHS with out any problems and only 5 minutes behind schedule. The trip, according to the GPS over the left shoulder of the bus driver should take us 11 hours. Since there is not too much to report today I thought I would give a brief overview of how I ended up on a bus with 16 students headed to P.E.I. About six weeks ago Bob Donnely from the Quebec Community Groups Network (QCGN) contacted me and told me about a group from PEI looking to do an exchange with a high school from Quebec. He thought that in my role as the coordinator for the Community Learning Center Project I might be able to pull this last minute request together. |
Well, with many phone calls and a bunch of paperwork filled out we are rolling down the highway looking forward to what the week has in store for us on the island. Meeting us in P.E.I. is another student group of about the same number of kids and they will travel with us throughout the week and share with us their experiences of living on Canada's only island province. The group that is sponsoring this trip is a Student Exchange organisation called SEVEC. I would invite you to visit their website at www.sevec.ca to learn more about the many services they offer. SEVEC has been real patient as we have prepared and formed this exchange. It is through their efforts that is educational exchange was made possible. In August of this year the group from P.E.I. will visit Quebec City for one week and we look forward to showing them around Canada's other most beautiful province. |
