Itinerary of Events Day 2 Tour of Founders Hall Sandland Tour (sand castles made from PEI soil) Lunch at the Canada Celebrates Tour of Providence House Pot Luck Supper at East Royalty Hall Festival of Lights Concert ( Our Lady of Peace, Hinder, Matt Mays ) |
Day 2: The day began with a visit to Founder's Hall. Here a tour was given of the pathway Canada took since 1867. Each period of Canada's great history was highlighted with static displays. Attached to the Founder's Hall was a site which had several sculptures made from the famous Prince Edward Island sand. Some of those sculptures are shown below. Mr. Sweeney was even given a private class on how to make people ohhhh and awwwe at the beach with some basic sand sculpting techniques. Unfortunately, the rain came down hard most of the day, but that did not dampen the spirits of the QHS students. The afternoon saw a tour of Providence House and we saw the birthplace of confederation. What a magnificent building with rooms that were decorated to depict the the 1800's. Our host families prepared a pot luck supper at a community center just outside the city center of Charlottetown. Here PEI organizer, Amanda McIntyre. welcomed the QHS group and an outline of the week's events were shared with the group. After supper the QHS group was presented welcome packages with stuff from PEI and t-shirts from SEVEC and Canada Celebrates. |
