Itinerary of Events Day 3 Cape Jourmain Park New Brunswick Lunch and Shopping at the Gateway Village Free time with our host families Festival of Lights Concert Series (Collective Soul and Tragically Hip) |
Day 3: Today we left Charlottown and drove to Summerside where we picked up the other half of the group. Once they were on board we travelled over the Confederation Bridge to visit Jourmain Park. Here we learn about energy saving and composting. The Jourmain Park facilities are outfitted with compost toilets that use no water and any of the water used in the sinks is harvested from rainwater. After a tour of the facilities a guide took us down to the beach where she proceeded to explain beach life and how things developed in the area. The guide and her assistant cast a net along the seashore and then the group sifted though the net afterwards looking for living organisms. The guide was very animated and was a wealth of sea-side knowledge. Lunch was spent just on the PEI side of the Confederation Bridge at the Gateway Village. Here we were treated to a tour of the Anne of Green Gables doll factory. We were able to get dressed up into costumes and take photographs. Tonight we will be going to the Festival of Lights and the bands that are playing are Soul Collective and the Tragically Hip. |
