After we loaded up the bus and headed to the ocean for our deep sea
fishing excursion. It took two boats for our group and the first group
headed off with no male students on board. There was some concern they
may not have caught any fish as they may have been too busy suntanning
the afternoon away.
The boat loaded with the males and 5 invited females left shortly after
heading toward fishing supremacy on the high seas. Once we were about
at 80 feet of depth the captain gave us a quick lesson and we were away
and fishing. It didn't take long for our bus driver Andre to start reeling
them into the boat. I think being from Lac St. Jean put a fear into the fish
and they just gave up and jumped onto his line. Everyone caught at least
one fish. Maude Emily Abel in her first attempt at fishing reeled in 20!
The captain of the boat filleted the fish on the spot and prepared them for
our shoreline supper.
All in all it was a great day and it was an event that our students for the
most part have never tried before.
The day began with a trip to City Hall.
There was a 20 minute tour of the city
of Charlottetown and they important
place it has held in the forming of this
great country. The students were able
to sit in the seats of the councilmen
and women and we even voted a new
Mayor for the day.
