Insurance Several accident insurance plans are made available to students at the beginning of each school year. The school urges parents to see that their children are properly insured. Theft of a pupil's personal effects is not covered by the insurance carried by the Board. Late Policy Late to school: Continuing with the established rule (students must have a late slip from the office where it is established if the late is valid or not. Unjustified lateness will result in a lunch detention and the code will be applied) Late to class: (2nd, 3rd and 4th periods): Lunch detention Lateness to class is when the student is not in the classroom at the second bell or at the time the bell rings indicating the beginning of the class. The policy will be posted in every classroom. The following schedule of bells will be in effect for the late policy. Procedure: - Teacher closes the door at the second bell. - The name of the student with a non-valid late is written on the attendance form followed by the letter L and the teacher informs the student to expect a lunch detention the next day (teacher should provide work for the student during detention). Teachers do not write down the names of students with a valid late. A non-valid late is when the student does not have a late slip or a note from a teacher or from professional services. - The teacher puts the attendance form in the Vice-Principal’s mail box at the end of the day. - It is tallied by the office. - Lunch detention will be served the following day: 1 late = 1 detention, 2 lates on the same day = 2 detentions… and so on. - Duration of detention is 40 minutes, from 11:35 to 12:15. Students are allowed to eat during detention. - The list of students (for lunch detention because of lateness to class) will be on the announcement sheet next morning. Teachers are to inform students of their detentions. - Administration will provide a list of late students to the detention supervisor each day. - After 3 lates to class, administration will set up an interview with the student and parents as stipulated in the protocol for lateness to school. - If a student is late to class because he/she is with another teacher, late slips will be available to teachers to validate lateness. If late slips are not available, a written note from the teacher will be sufficient. |
